*THIS IS A DAY TRIP FROM SARAJEVO!
For a long time, this was the capital of Ottoman Bosnia and Herzegovina - the vizier’s city. Today it is a city where you can find on almost every corner a building of cultural and historical importance.
Travnik is also one of the most conserved cities in the region of central Bosnia and is well known for several mosques and other buildings built in Ottoman times.
Travnik is also the birth city of Nobel prize winner Ivo Andric ("the bridge of Drina river") and his birth house is an interesting museum today.
By historical documents, Travnik was also the first diplomatic center of Bosnia, where in 1807th and 1808th France and Austria opened their consulates. Travnik is the inheritance of viziers.
